Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how the brain manages various functions. ADHD can be highly debilitating, significantly affecting quality of life, academic/career success, relationships, and daily functioning due to core symptoms. It is recognized as a disability under U.S. laws like the ADA and Section 504. ADHD is a life-long condition. While there is no cure, symptoms can be managed through a combination of therapies, education, and medication. The prefrontal cortex, cerebellum (involved in movement and attention), and basal ganglia (regulating behavior) are often slightly smaller in individuals with ADHD. The brain's communication relies on neurotransmitters, which function differently in those with ADHD.
